The Master Builder's Dog Friendly Hotel
Location: Buckler’s Yard, New Forest
Highlights: The view and doggy room service!
Last month we were invited for an overnight stay at The Master Builder’s. A stunning hotel that overlooks the Beaulieu River.
We arrived on a hot and sunny Sunday afternoon and after allowing Loki to cool off in the river we took a seat at The Yachtsman’s Bar. A nice relaxed garden overlooking the river, it was quite busy but once we had ordered the food came out nice and quickly.
The Yatchsman’s Bar and Garden serve a relaxed menu throughout the day from 12-9pm, which allowed us to arrive in the afternoon (we had agility training in the morning!)
After enjoying some nice lunch and some cold beers (water for Loki) we took Loki for a walk along the river.
There is a walk straight from the hotel, you just walk to the end of the garden and you are at the riverside. Loki had a nice swim and said hello to some people who had just finished kayaking!
For the Dogs!
1. In the Room
In the room there was a plastic dog bed filled with blankets. We actually have the exact same one at home so I think that helped Loki settle! There was also a nice big china bowl for his water (which is great because Loki thinks its great fun tipping over bowls of water whenever he can!)
2. Doggy Room Service
My favourite thing about our stay had to be their doggy room service. Just as you would with usual room service we called up and ordered Loki’s dinner, there’s a great choice for them. Loki has always had a bit of a sensitive tummy so we opted for the sausages. Then 3 big sausages arrived on a bed of sweet potato in a nice big bowl, Loki LOVED IT!!! You can check out the dog’s room service menu by clicking here!
3. The Hotel & It’s Surroundings
A lovely place to stay with your dog, dog’s are allowed in most of the dining/lounge areas and there’s plenty of places to exercise the dogs (especially if they like a swim!). There were plenty of other dogs when we were there as well which is always a good sign!
The room was nice and clean and nice simple décor. With the dog necessities of a bed and a bowl and coffee, water and biscuits for the humans! We didn’t have to climb any stairs to get to our room either which is always helpful when you have a dog – for us because we brought Loki’s crate and for those with older dogs who may not want to climb any stairs.
We were really impressed with the food! There’s a choice of the relaxed Yatchman’s Bar and Garden or the more formal Riverview Restaurant.
We had some delicious Pizza’s for dinner from the Yatchsman’s Bar and enjoyed a really tasty breakfast on the balcony. For both meals we were able to sit outside, enjoy the sunshine and the view!
Set in Buckler’s Yard and overlooking the Beaulieu River, you have a riverside as you step out the hotel.
We also went for a typical New Forest walk in the morning, acres of space and lots of wild horses (and trees to climb for Loki!)
We really enjoyed our stay and wish we were there for longer! Loki was treated like royalty (as he should be!) and it was just a really relaxed stay. I would highly recommend! Go check out their website here
Last weekend we were kindly invited for a stay at the William Cecil Hotel in Stamford, Lincolnshire. We arrived on Saturday evening, as we checked in Loki got a very warm welcome which was a sign of things to come. All the staff at the William Cecil were just so...
We have now had Colin (our VW campervan) for 4 months. We have been away about 7 or 8 times now, usually for a 2 day trip but sometimes a bit longer! So I thought I would let you know some tips for packing up for a trip! Sleeping Arrangements In our van, the back seat...
Our first trip away in February took us to Ludlow, Shropshire. We didn't have long to spend there, not even a weekend due to work commitments, so we travelled down on Saturday evening. As you can see Loki is SO relaxed in the van now. He really doesn't travel well in...
