Last weekend we were kindly invited for a stay at the William Cecil Hotel in Stamford, Lincolnshire.
We arrived on Saturday evening, as we checked in Loki got a very warm welcome which was a sign of things to come. All the staff at the William Cecil were just so incredibly friendly, chatty and welcoming.
In our room we had a large four poster bed! Bearing in mind we are used to sleeping in our campervan on weekends away (all three of us) this bed was HUGE! There were two dog bowls and a nice dog bed ready and waiting for Loki.
There was an amazing shower, Loki found this very intriguing as he could walk right into it (which he can’t do at home!)
After freshening up, we went down for dinner. Dogs aren’t able to dine in the main restaurant, instead they have two dog friendly rooms that we were able to eat in. Where we ate there were several other tables, each with a dog being spoilt by the hotel staff.
Eating out and about with a crazy teenage spaniel can sometimes be a bit of a worry, will he settle, will he bother the staff and will he get in the way. But here, he was fussed over and given space, water and treats.
The food (for the humans) looked amazing and was delicious! The highlight for me was the pudding, a cherry cheesecake (cherries are a weakness of mine!)
We all slept like babies in the amazing, large comfy bed and looked forward to breakfast. We ate breakfast in the Conservatory. Again the food and the service was top class, without asking they brought out a chopped up sausage just for Loki. He was a VERY happy boy!
The grounds outside the hotel look really nice, unfortunately it was raining a lot but we still took some soggy spaniel photographs. I imagine on a sunny spring or summer’s day you could get some beautiful photos! You can also walk to Burghley House from the hotel.
After breakfast we decided to find a local walk. Just 15 minutes down the road is Rutland Water, so we went for a 4 mile walk. Loki loved having a swim, while we battled the wind and rain at the start of storm Freya!
We all loved our weekend away in Stamford, with the only complaints being the weather! I would highly recommend a stay there, you can check out their website here: http://www.hillbrookehotels.co.uk/the-william-cecil/
